As Mazda unveiled their all new MX-5 Roadster Coupe on Tuesday at the British Motor Show Press Day, specification and prices were released to the dealer network in preparation for the UK launch.
The model will be for sale from 18th October 2006 and will provide a more premium addition to the Mazda MX-5 range, which will attract even more customers to the world's best selling roadster.
The Mazda MX5 Roadster Coupe retains all of the benefits of the soft top version, but enhances it further with the world's fastest retractable hard top; at only twelve seconds up or top down, without any impact upon the volume of boot space.
Model Line Up
One of the key features of the Mazda MX5 Roadster coupe model is the standardisation of the Option Pack. To complement the premium positioning of the vehicle, the 1.8i Option Pack will become the lead-in model. Climate control air-conditioning will be standardised on all vehicles as it has been packaged together with the retractable hard top.
Otherwise, the standard specifications of the Mazda MX5 Roadster Coupe derivatives remain the same as the soft top equivalent. It's also worth noting that despite the obvious changes, there will be no badge nomenclature to distinguish this Roadster from the soft top model.

Colour and Trim Availability
In addition to the current MX5 colur palette, two new colours have been introduced to the range:
- Stormy Blue Mica
- Copper Red Mica
The above paint colours will feature heavily on the launch stock and will also be available on soft top derivatives.

In line with the soft top range, the Mazda MX5 Roadster Coupe is available with Black trim only. Trim availability is as follows:
- 1.8i and 2.0i (non-Sport) models feature black cloth as standard with black leather as a cost option priced at £720
- 2.0i Sport models feature black leather as standard
Pricing
The additional cost for the retractable hard top option is only £1200 premium over the soft top vehicle. Climate control air conditioning has been packaged with the retractable hard top at an additional cost of £560, i.e. a total of £1760 over the equivalent soft top derivative.

Although insurance details are yet to be confirmed, RFL and CO2 emissions data remain unchanged as the equivalent soft top.
